While visiting MARL last Tuesday, my daughters and I found this sad puppy at the corner by Lowe's off Greenway Drive in Jackson. He was severely underweight (less than 17 pounds), dehydrated, covered in ticks and fleas. He also had been hit by a car and would not put weight on his left leg where he also had some recent abrasions. If that wasn't enough, he had an obvious eye infection that looked really painful. Well, we couldn't leave him there so we loaded him up to take to CARA. About 5 minutes into the trip, we decided we couldn't take him without taking him to a doctor first and seeing if he would be okay. We went to Banfield off County Line Road and got most of his ticks taken off, his eye stained (we found he had a scratch on his eye that was causing the infection), got some antibiotics for his eye...the Doctor said he didn't THINK his leg was broken - I just couldn't afford to have x-rays done - and gave us some anti-inflamatant for it. We've been keeping him at our home while on his meds...but he still isn't using his front leg much - though it doesn't seem to hurt him. We've named him Tough and he's approx. 5-6 months old. Tough needs a loving home. Our Border Collie just isn't very friendly with other dogs. If you would consider welcoming Tough into your family and helping him recover...I know you will fall in love with him and never regret helping him out.
