I tend to go overboard when it comes to the details of my cutting boards.
They are initially sanded "Amish Smooth" to 1000 grit while raising the grain several times on the way!
Next, they get completely submerged in a bath of mineral oil for several days.
After sitting in the open air for a couple of days they get waxed with a special coating of my homemade board butter. This consists of beeswax 🐝, carnuba wax and paraffin wax along with mineral oil. The wax is applied with a heat gun to open the pores of the wood and really soak in. Once dried, I buff 💪 them to a high gloss.
We mustn't forget about the feet! I use oversized (1½") silicone feet for extra stability and slippage prevention. Of course these feet are attached with rust proof stainless steel screws.
FINALLY! Finally, (yes it takes a minute to read this and longer to type it but imagine actually going through each step) I wrap them in several layers of saran wrap to protect them from scratches and dust.
Your new cutting board shouldn't need any maintenance or oiling for quite a while.
I'm asking $29 or best offer for this particular cutting board.
I also have several more solid maple cutting boards that will be ready in a few days.
